WHY SUPPORT MISSIONS?

“Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.  The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.  The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.” – Psalm 41:1-3

One of the keys to stepping into the fullness of all that God has to offer for his children is learning to give to the poor and needy.  At Cross Way we believe that the church must have vision and action outside of itself in order to live in the richest and deepest blessings that God is capable of blessing us with.  Only months into the ministry we began to see the tremendous need that would be shortly upon us to purchase a church.  God had placed within the hearts of our leadership a God-given dream that He would soon bless us with a harvest of souls and church growth demanding space for class rooms and more teachers.  Knowing that the likelihood of attaining the funds to purchase an actual church building in only a year from our first service was not going to happen unless God intervened, we began to seek God’s face for wisdom and instruction.   The answer was amazing!  God spoke into our hearts – “Give to missions.”  “Support My work outside of this church.”  “Lean not on your own understanding.” “If you will do these things I will make the way.”  By faith we obeyed and not only has God made a way, but He has done above and abundantly beyond all that we ever could have imagined!  The church that hasn’t a vision and action  beyond the church is a church that hasn’t gotten ahold of God’s vision for the church.  The same is true for the individual as well.  Brothers and Sisters – you can’t out-give God for the generous man will himself be blessed.

INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS OUTREACH

 
International Missions Outreach is a non-denominational organization that ministers to the needs of individuals' spirit, soul, and body in Haiti. Under the leadership and direction of Dr. John Hanson since 1976, IMO has grown to be one of the largest active mission organizations at this time. IMO consists of many various areas of ministry over the island of Haiti. These include:

• 26 Built Churches
• 200 Brush Arbors
• Bi-Annual Haitian Pastor Seminars
• 17 Educational schools
• Annual Haitian Teacher Conference
• 1 Bible School - 3 year program with dormitories for students or night classes available
• A Child Sponsorship Program
• 2 Medical Clinics
• Feeding Program
• Haitian Staff of over 193 employees
• Over 100 Evangelists preaching over the island
• One-week mission trips available
• Annual Haitian and US Convention

IMO Haiti Schools:
Seventeen Schools operate under the direction of Joyce Hanson. Enrollment in these schools now exceeds 5,000 students. It requires a staff of 175 teachers, directors and employees to manage and maintain these schools. IMO has established a child sponsorship program  to give these children a chance to a better life that will lead them out of the poverty that plagues their country. However, sponsors are needed in assisting this program to free these children from the trap of illiteracy.

You can help break these chains and give a child a future. You can do this with only $25.00 a month for a minimal one year commitment. Your student will receive all of his/her books, uniform, medical attention when needed, and assists in salary of their teachers.

You CAN be the difference in the life of a child !

I have had the privilege of seeing this great work of God with my own eyes and there are truthfully no words that can describe the fingerprints of God upon this ministry.  I.M.O. not only helps to meet the needs of the poor, the needy, and the children of this country, but they do so while providing Christian education,  school uniforms, planting and building churches, offering college classes for Christian school teachers, seminary for pastors and much more. 

You can take my word that every penny you’re willing to invest in this ministry will be used entirely and completely for the purpose of furthering God’s work in Haiti.  My family and I currently sponsor a young boy through this ministry.  Of the more than 240 churches that have been planted in Haiti since the birth of this ministry some 30 years ago, only about 50 of them have actual church buildings.  The rest of them meet in what are called “brush harbors”.  The brush harbors are seen below in some of the photographs.  An actual church building can be built for $39,000 American dollars. 

Cross Way’s prayer and goal is to team up with a few other churches in our region to come together with the funds to build a church in Haiti by June of 2009.  If you would be interested in helping with this great cause or would like to go with us to Haiti on our next missions trip please contact me.

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL
Compassion is a world wide organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in the name of Jesus.  The people of Cross Way are currently sponsoring 25 children around the globe through the ministry of Compassion and we pray that God will increase this number as the church continues to grow.  Compassion is a child sponsorship program through which individuals, families, and organizations, can commit to providing for the needs of children around the globe with a monthly contribution of only $32.00 each month.
